Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, companies operating in the country have faced missile attacks, power outages, supply chain disruptions, cyber threats and workforce displacement, and many have continued operating throughout.
Their experiences matter beyond Ukraine. As Sweden and Europe strengthen preparedness for crises and hybrid threats, Ukraine offers practical lessons in how organisations adapt and make decisions under extreme pressure.
This study examines how Swedish companies with operations, partnerships or a presence in Ukraine have managed the realities of war.
The study is conducted by Forever Sustainable and financed by the Swedish Agency for Civil Defence (MCF), with a steering group including representatives from MCF, Business Sweden Ukraine, the Swedish Energy Agency, Stockholm School of Economics (academia) and the Swedish Federation of Business Owners (Företagarna). Strategic expertise is contributed by Peter Swartling, MCF adviser on civil preparedness and lessons from Ukraine.
Findings will be published in autumn 2026.
